This is part of the process when a shipment may be lost in transit. Traces can take extra time because the courier will conduct a search throughout their network to locate a parcel. The courier won’t proceed with a missing claim until this process has been completed and a shipment is officially declared lost. Parcels are sometimes recovered during the trace process.
