Effective July 1, 2026, the European Union (EU) introduced new customs regulations for commercial shipments entering EU member countries.

As a result, Canada Post has temporarily suspended postal service to select European destinations while it updates its systems and processes to comply with the new requirements.

What's Changing?

The updated EU regulations introduce several important changes for commercial shipments:

  • The €150 duty-free threshold has been removed for most commercial goods.
  • Most commercial shipments may now be subject to customs duties regardless of shipment value.
  • Import VAT continues to apply where required.
  • More detailed and accurate customs information may be required to help clear shipments.

These regulatory changes have been implemented by the European Union and are outside of ShipTime's control.

Canada Post Service Update

Until further notice, Canada Post has temporarily suspended service to the following destinations:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Luxembourg
  • Portugal
  • Spain

Canada Post continues to accept shipments to many other European destinations.

What This Means for Your Business

If you're shipping to one of the affected countries:

  • Canada Post services may not be available for your shipment.
  • Alternative carriers available through ShipTime may still be able to deliver to your destination.
  • Shipments may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or additional customs processing upon arrival.
  • Providing complete and accurate customs documentation can help reduce customs delays and avoid processing issues.
